Tagore’s only English poem, The Child was presented through dance, music and recitation. The poem, in ten verses, was composed by Tagore after seeing the Passion Play of Christ in Germany. The music was specially composed for this choreographic presentation by Debojyoti Mishra. It included aspects of world music such as Ave Maria, which had profoundly influenced Tagore and also borrowed from classical compositions which Tagore had drawn inspiration from. Specially commissioned by ICCR, this production was world premiered at the festival.
