Rabindranath Tagore Centre, ICCR, Kolkata presents "A Date with Central Asia" a Photographic Exhibition by Shri Dilip Banerjee

The exhibition 'A Date with Central Asia' is presented by ‘Quest on Wings’, an organization founded by photojournalist Dilip Banerjee to promote arts, friendship and global trends. Besides Dilip Banerjee, who is one of the main contributors to the exhibition, the team includes history scholar and senior executive of Indian Railways, Purnendu Sekhar Mitra; mountaineer – adventurer and ENT specialist, Kallol Das; traveller and finance executive, Sekhar Basu Mallick; storyteller and medical specialist, Asish Kumar Kundu; wild life photographer and Zoology Professor, Dipankar Sengupta. The team discovered that old and new cultures mesh beautifully in the famous bread markets in the Char Su Bazaar in Tashkent, a market that has been in existence since 500 B.C. They were fascinated by the tomb of the 14th century Central Asia conqueror Timur, an ancestor of the founder of the Mughal dynasty, Babur. In Tajikistan, they were enchanted with the capital city of Dushanbe and Khujand, a key centre of the Silk Route and a border town close to Uzbekistan, with roads, squares and big theatres that bear Russian influence. All this and more have been captured in the lens of the 'Quest on Wings' team.
